I hit rock bottom running My. Own. Company!
Here's my painful lesson and what you should know about founder-led sales.
For years, I was the founder, the CEO, and the entire sales department.
I told myself it was fine. I told myself no one could sell it like me.
The reality? I was burning out.
My days were consumed by calls, follow-ups, and proposals.
Other parts of the business were suffering.
And eventually, the burnout turned into something darker. Depression.
I hit bottom.
And hitting bottom was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Because I finally asked the question I should have asked years earlier:
Why am I the only one selling?
The answer wasn't that I was the best salesperson.
It was that I had never built the SYSTEM that could replace me.
No documented process. No playbook. No pipeline discipline.
Just me, doing it all, hoping it would scale.
It doesn't scale. You’ll break first.
